Brocolor: Innovative Cooling System with R-1234ze
To future-proof its paint production process, Brocolor sought a solution that was not only energy-efficient but also met the strictest environmental requirements. Industrial Air Company was tasked with developing a cooling system that was sustainable, reliable, and flexibly integrated into the existing production process. The result: an innovative installation based on R-1234ze, with full heat recovery and remote monitoring.
The collaboration with Brocolor started with four clear objectives. First, Brocolor wanted to achieve energy-efficient cooling, reducing operational costs and the ecological footprint of production. Additionally, the installation had to be reliable, without malfunctions or production stops, and easily scalable for future expansions.
The choice of an environmentally friendly refrigerant was also central. Brocolor consciously chose a solution with the lowest possible impact on the climate. Finally, speed was an important factor: the cooling system had to be implemented with minimal disruption to the ongoing production process.
To meet these goals, Industrial Air Company developed a custom cooling system that was fully prefabricated in our workshop. The installation was built from modular components, ensuring maximum control during construction and extensive testing possibilities in advance. This significantly reduced on-site assembly time and minimized the impact on production.
The heart of the installation is formed by the refrigerant R-1234ze, with a GWP value of only 7. This environmentally friendly refrigerant enables a direct contribution to Brocolor’s sustainability goals.
In addition, the system is equipped with a stepless inverter compressor, which continuously adjusts the cooling capacity to the current production needs. This not only increases efficiency but also provides extra stability in the production process.
Another important component is the integrated heat recovery system. The heat released during the cooling process is reused in other parts of the production process, resulting in significant energy savings.
To guarantee maximum operational reliability even in unexpected situations, an emergency cooling system is integrated. In case of failure of the main cooling system, the installation automatically switches to a groundwater pump, allowing production to continue uninterrupted.
Finally, the installation was equipped with control software developed by us, including remote monitoring. This allows Brocolor to monitor and adjust the cooling system 24/7 remotely, further increasing reliability and control.
The cooling system at Brocolor delivered a series of concrete benefits. Thanks to the use of R-1234ze, Brocolor now meets the strictest environmental requirements, while significantly reducing the ecological impact of the production process. The modular construction, built-in emergency cooling system, and remote monitoring capabilities ensure a high level of operational reliability.
The installation also offers advantages in terms of cost savings. The combination of inverter technology and heat recovery has significantly reduced energy consumption. Moreover, the installation is flexibly constructed, making future expansions or modifications easy to implement.
